We are happy to present, the Carnegie Kids’ Club’s (CKC) first anthology. CKC is a community-based program designed to assist children with improvement in literacy skills with reading, writing, and creativity. In July of 2020, CW piloted the first sessions over the course of six weeks. The sessions included a club process based on reading, movement, writing, and drawing. During each session, the club leader would read a book selection and members were able to engage with targeted comprehension questions. Based on the topic of the book, members participated in a movement activity to demonstrate their understanding of the content. Next, members completed a collaborative story based on the topic. Last, members drew images based on the story. As you progress through the anthology, you will see all the creative stories and images that were completed by the Kids’ Club members.
